What's next? I guess if transport is cheap enough, and the exchange favourable, the oil companies will start to ship the tar sands directly to the states, not even bother straining out the tar from the sand, let alone refine it here, which would give us the jobs and value-added that we need to hold on to. Then esso sells us the gas and diesel that we exported to the us in raw form, at prices like arm, leg, and bend over. man, I love the global economy. However, we still can find "made in Germany" products - some clothes, some Bosh electronics and food, of course.
